This is a simple writing app inspired by my own trials with writing, in particular essays. It centers around thinking of your essay in terms of paragraphs, each which should communicate an idea and contribute to the flow of the overall work.
You start by writing whatever you need in the first screen. To help focus on the idea/paragraph at hand, you can enter “Focused mode” which clears the writing space after the completion of each paragraph.
Next you edit your writing. You can rearrange paragraphs by dragging them to a new position in the essay. Introduction sentences to each paragraph are highlighted, and you can minimize the “body” of the paragraph so that only the introduction is visible. Introduction sentences should give some indication of the central idea of the paragraph, and they should tie in to the argument of the whole essay. Paragraphs should flow in a logical order such that they build or expand on each other, so introduction sentences can be incredibly helpful in determining whether your essay accomplishes this.
Finally, you can download your writing as a text file once you’re done. You also get a unique URL where you can continue to access your writing for 60 days.
